About
Often highly energetic yet emotionally striking, other times more laid-back yet fascinatingly captivating: It is impossible to pin down the exact sound of Polygon’s genre-bending drum and bass, but it can always be instantly recognized.
What distinguishes the dutch duo from the rest is the undeniably fun energy they bring to their live performances, which, combined with their astonishing ability to consistently find mixes and transitions that work way too well, always makes for one hell of an experience for the audience.
It all started in 2016 when Julian and Elliot were introduced to each other at a Liftoff night they were both booked at. While working together on a back-to-back set for the following event, they realised they kind of like each other and decided to combine all the different sides of their DJing and production talents into one coherent structure: Polygon. The motto: Music with multiple faces.
Their first ever release, their 2016 remix of Itro’s Light And Blue, was immediately championed by Justin Hawkes and subsequently uploaded up by scene behemoth Liquicity. They always had high expectations of their own work, but ever since Justin Hawkes described their 2018 track Moment In Time on Liquicity as “absolutely insane” and “seriously pushing the sound of drum and bass”, the duo even more so set out to keep breaking boundaries and pushing forward with every single following release.
While they are always striving for sonic diversity, with influences ranging from Sub Focus and Metrik to Skrillex and Martin Garrix, one major thing that makes Polygon’s productions stand out from the masses of the established sounds is: fun. They are making their own favourite music and it shows. Legends say when they finish producing a track, they play it loud on their studio’s sound system for hours, while repeatedly flicking the light switches on and off and jumping around a lot.
This work ethos and refined production process has since then earned them releases on highly esteemed labels like Liquicity, Elevate, Viper and Korsakov, and bookings at multiple Liquicity Festivals, Champion Sound XL and several consecutive Korsakov nights. With support by the likes of Friction, Matrix & Futurebound, Hybrid Minds, DJ Marky and Macky Gee, it’s safe to say they have become a force to be reckoned with and are Poly-here to stay.
With more releases on Liquicity and Elevate lined up for 2021 and beyond, they are now ready to take the world by storm. Let the banger season begin.
